After long dark winters, we need to take advantage of our beautiful Minnesota Spring and Summer. Originally, the idea was to remove a very small deck and stairs to the south of the Sunroom and replace with a larger deck for grilling and entertaining. We found that this would darken the lower level family room, require removing/rebuilding a ground level patio and obstruct the main floor dining room view. If we added the deck on the opposite side of the Sunroom, it could be larger and not affect the low light requirements of their walkout level media room, leaving the existing stairway and patio in place. This also would give more privacy and noise control from a busy road on the south side. The design was created with a small deck angled away from the family room windows so the grill would not obstruct their view of a beautiful wetland. The custom built circular steel stairway uses a small footprint and gives quick access for backyard visits. Minimalist horizontal steel cable railings impact the least on views from the Trex Transcend deck and home.
