The Owners had already made the decision to get rid of the island when we started talking about a kitchen remodel. It always seemed to be ‘in the way’ and made the generous space inconvenient for the two cooks. Laying out an efficient traffic pattern meant moving the ovens to the ‘tall wall’ of built-in cabinets with a power tower of micro/oven/warming drawer. This opened up large continuous swaths of useable counters. No walls were moved but the walk-in pantry was converted to more efficient cabinetry giving rise to a feeling of spaciousness. The old eating area was replaced with a swoop of Cambria to comfortably seat the family of four.

This transitional kitchen boldly moved forward with an uncluttered look utilizing two blended wood tones to tie the adjoining mahogany dining room cabinetry with the maple trim throughout the rest of the home.

Quartz countertops were the genesis of a backsplash where the bright pops of ceramic were custom colored for this client. Notice the details: subtle accent lighting behind glass doors, hidden pots to keep utensils close at hand and beautiful stainless steel appliances add color and texture to this beautiful kitchen update.
